Jim EngineerFounder, e-Rainmaker Public Relations

Jim Engineer is a 17-year, award-winning public relations executive. In 1999, Jim founded e-Rainmaker Public Relations, an independent boutique public relations practice, and is responsible for all new business development, client relations and account management. For more than 12 consecutive years, Jim has built an outstanding reputation for executing highly successful PR programs for established corporations and early-stage breakthrough technology start-ups.

In September, Jim was awarded the 2011 Bulldog Reporter Stars of PR Media Relations Professional of the Year Award for MANDIANT Buzz | Responsible Media Relations for the Information Security Industry, entering him in to the Bulldog Reporter’s Stars of PR Media Relations Hall of Fame. This coveted national industry award recognizes excellence in media relations and is awarded to PR professionals based on their ability to achieve extraordinary visibility and influence opinion, as well as on their creativity, command of media and technology, and tenacity.

Prior to e-Rainmaker, Jim served as a senior account executive in the Corporate Reputation Management practice at Edelman Public Relations in Chicago. Before Edelman, Jim served three years as Senior Communications Specialist and Regional Spokesman for Mellon (now Bank of New York Mellon) in Philadelphia.

Jim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Northern Illinois University. Current and past membership affiliations include: Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), PRSA’s Chicago and Suburban Chicago Chapters, the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and the Computer Security Institute (CSI). He resides in Chicago’s western suburbs with his wife, two daughters and an English bulldog named Winston.
